even spicier take: “non-binary” means a thousand different things to a thousand different people and therefore anyone of any sexuality could theoretically be attracted to a non-binary person in some capacity, so if you’re gay and someone you’re attracted to says, “i’m non-binary,” you don’t actually have to redefine your entire identity, you can just drink a cup of sleepytime tea and go right on being gay and into non-binary people.

“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a horrifying bill Wednesday that will let the state take transgender minors away from their families if they are receiving gender-affirming care.
The new law will allow the state to take custody of a child if they have been “subjected to or [are] threatened with being subjected to” gender-affirming care, which includes puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy. Florida courts could modify custody agreements from a different state if the minor is likely to receive gender-affirming care in that second state. The text refers to gender-affirming care as “sex-reassignment prescriptions or procedures” and qualifies this care as a form of “physical harm.”
The bill also targets trans adults: Only physicians are allowed to offer gender-affirming care (not nurse practitioners). Anyone who violates the law could be charged with a misdemeanor.
Minors who have already begun transitioning will be allowed to continue to do so, but they are no longer allowed to receive care via telehealth, including for prescriptions. ”
I desperately need y'all to pay attention. This is the one that pushed me to bump my planned move up to July. 80% of HRT in the state of Florida is prescribed by nurse practitioners. That is now illegal. For all ages. 10,000s of trans people in Florida have been dropped from care. As it stands, my clinic is bringing a doctor to sign off on all care, but for how long will they allow that workaround? Anyone seeking to start care will be given an “informed consent” form that is filled with christian right propaganda and it essentially will tell you that you are harming yourself by going on HRT. First appointments are extremely vulnerable and this will stop people. That’s what the want. They don’t want us to get care. They don’t want kids to get care before irreversible puberty changes cause lifelong pain. They don’t believe we exist and instead want us to hate ourselves. They don’t care that this will kill people. They only care about asserting their worldview. I’m lucky I can leave but my heart breaks for people who only know Florida as home. People who are needlessly suffering because 8 years ago they lost on gay marriage and needed a new scapegoat. These are monsters and trans people of all ages need you to care and pay attention. Because nobody seems to care about this. Cis people generally don’t even know it’s happening. We’re on fire and people are behaving like everything is okay. It’s not okay.
